The king and queen have been married for many decades. Queen Fahda was born in 1945 in Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh. She comes from the influential Al Hathleen family in the Najd region. The Al Hathlains are descendants of Arair, one of the biggest tribes of Najd.
Queen Fahda married the then Prince Salman in 1954 when she was only nine years old. Child marriage was still a common practice among the Saudi elite at that time. Prince Salman was 19 years old during their wedding.

May 20, 2024: Saudi Arabia’s 88-year-old King Salman bin Abdulaziz has been diagnosed with a lung infection after suffering from fever and joint pain. According to government media, he will be treated with antibiotics.
King Salman underwent medical tests at the Royal Clinic at Al Salam Palace in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah. According to the official Saudi Press Agency, he was found to have a lung infection during testing.
The medical team has decided that he will be given a course of antibiotics so that the infection can be cured. It is noteworthy that Badshah was admitted to the hospital for a checkup in April. He was later discharged.
