Prince Daemon Targaryen was very angry 😠 because his son Lucerys died. He hired two killers named Blood and Cheese to get revenge. Blood and Cheese pretended to be rat catchers so they could sneak into the strong Red Keep castle in King’s Landing. They were looking for Prince Aemond Targaryen, the man with one eye who killed Lucerys.
However, the episode takes a scary turn. Aemond is missing! Blood and Cheese, following Daemon’s confusing orders, are faced with a terrifying decision. Daemon had said, “an eye for an eye, a son for a son,” but who did he mean by “son”? 🤔
The assassins sneak into the royal nursery and find Queen Helaena Targaryen with her little twins, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. Suddenly, everyone panics when Blood and Cheese show why they are really there.
George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood” has a very upsetting scene. Queen Helaena has to pick which of her sons will be killed. This terrible choice is made even worse because Blood and Cheese, the killers, end up killing the other twin anyway.
House of the Dragon did things differently. Even though the scene is still very dark, they don’t show the child’s death directly. You can see the fear in Queen Helaena’s eyes and hear the desperation in her voice as she begs for her children’s lives. This alone leaves a strong impression. 😨👑
The ending of the episode has caused a lot of arguments among fans. Some people like how the show handled it, saying the scene is still powerful without showing too much violence. Others don’t like the change, thinking it makes the story less intense than the book.
No matter what viewers think, it’s clear that “Blood and Cheese” is a powerful scene. It shows just how ruthless people in Westeros can be and the extreme lengths they go to for revenge. This scene also hints at an even more brutal Targaryen civil war called the “Dance of the Dragons.” 🐉
